Gynaecology and gynaecological ultrasound

Gynaecological health supported by imaging methods

Who are we talking to?

Patients who suspect a gynaecological condition (involving the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes or breasts) and want an accurate diagnosis, essential for effective treatments. During the gynaecological consultation in SKINMED®, the doctor uses gynaecological ultrasound as a diagnostic method. This complements the clinical examination and provides additional information that is valuable for identifying various gynaecological conditions or for monitoring pregnancy.

Gynaecological consultation and certain tests are also necessary before vaginal and vulvar rejuvenation treatments are performed, to rule out any incompatibility between the patient's health condition and the procedure itself.

Because medicine also has an important preventive role, we remind you that it is advisable for every woman to have an annual gynaecological check-up for early detection of possible health problems.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

How does gynaecological ultrasound contribute to a correct diagnosis?

Ultrasound is a diagnostic method using ultrasound. Because of its mode of action, it is easy, non-irradiative and can be repeated without side effects.

Gynaecological and obstetric ultrasound complements with fine details of the uterus and adnexa (ovaries, fallopian tubes) and dynamically follows a pregnancy, being the first to signal foetal malformations or disturbances of the development in physiological parameters.

Ultrasound is also a complementary method to mammography in the early detection of breast disorders, and is also available to patients under 40 years of age, the age eligible for mammography.

How a gynaecological consultation in SKINMED goes®?

In short, a gynaecological consultation involves a history of specific and general medical conditions. Afterwards, palpation of the breasts and examination on the gynaecological table are carried out, possibly with the collection of a Pap smear and vaginal secretions. If the SKINMED® specialist considers it necessary, an ultrasound examination is carried out for further details on the condition and functioning of the organs. This may identify cysts, fibroids, benign or malignant tumour formations. It is also useful for assessing endometrium, pregnancy, intrauterine devices.
