Phlebology

Medical safety first! Our concern is the health of blood vessels and skin, an essential condition for successful aesthetic procedures.

Who are we talking to?

Phlebology is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the venous system. That is why we address women and men who want healthy and pleasant-looking skin, free from the effect of superficial veins on the legs or other areas of the body.

Sclerotherapy and laser therapy treatments, which improve the appearance of the vessels, are recommended for patients suffering from varicose veins or spider veins (dilated blood vessels visible on the surface of the skin). The results are safe and long-lasting. Generally, candidates for these treatments are medically healthy people who have no other health problems that could affect their ability to heal following the procedures.

Why choose SKINMED® experts?

SKINMED® experts have extensive experience in minimally invasive aesthetic treatments and are constantly in touch with the latest national and international information on new treatments and technologies. Doppler ultrasound

identifying venous reflux, superficial venous dilatations, existence of communicating veins.

Doppler ultrasound, essential for correct diagnosis

Vascular Doppler ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic modality used to measure blood flow and blood pressure in veins and arteries. Vascular ultrasound can diagnose arterial injuries and follow the appearance of blood vessels during treatment.

Basically, non-invasive examination of blood vessels is performed by moving a transducer on the surface of the skin along the blood vessel. A special gel is applied to the patient's legs and then the internal and external saphenous veins, the deep venous system are visualised, and the existence of venous reflux, i.e. an incompetence to close a valve, is confirmed or denied.

Doppler ultrasound can diagnose diseases such as:
  • arterial occlusions
  • peripheral arterial disease
  • artery stenosis
  • venous insufficiency
  • arterial aneurysms
  • varicose vein
  • thrombophlebitis

Phlebological consultation and Doppler ultrasound are necessary before sclerotherapy to rule out the presence of severe venous insufficiency in the superficial venous system (internal or external saphenous vein).

When the patient has reflux confirmed on echo-Doppler examination, sclerotherapy is not indicated before surgical treatment, represented by crosectomy and saphenous stripping, a method to remove venous reflux.

Aesthetic correction by sclerotherapy of these venectomies, in patients with surgical indication, is performed temporarily because the injected vein is repermeabilized due to the existence of venous reflux.

Sclerotherapy - safe intervention with the help of the phlebologist

Sclerotherapy is one of the main phlebological treatments performed in SKINMED® and involves injecting certain sclerosing agents into the venous lumen with a very fine needle. The procedure is quick and requires no recovery period, correcting:

  • teleangiectasia
  • reticular veins
  • varicose veins below the knee
  • recurrent varicose veins
  • isolated varicose veins.

Alongside sclerotherapy, LP YAG laser treatment is also used to correct visible vessels. Because of its photothermal effect, it is used in a wide range of conditions with a vascular substrate.
