HOW DOES IT WORK?

What is non-surgical blepharoplasty?

Non-surgical blepharoplasty is a safe, simple treatment designed to tighten unwanted, excess or lax skin in the eyelid area. It is an alternative to surgical blepharoplasty, a more invasive medical procedure that may involve complications or longer recovery periods.

Therapeutic solutions used in SKINMED® for eyelid lift

Non-surgical blepharoplasty uses the heat energy of laser or radio frequency, to produce skin tightening and stimulate collagen production. This produces lifting, wrinkle-reducing, rejuvenating and firming effects and improves skin elasticity.

Frequently asked questions

What causes eyelid laxity?

Wrinkles and skin laxity are a natural phenomenon that occurs with ageing. After 30, skin naturally loses collagen, a protein that keeps skin smooth. As collagen loss continues, fine lines and wrinkles become more prominent. The eyelid and brow areas are more prone to wrinkles, partly because the skin is much thinner compared to other areas of the face. Lifestyle and good skin care habits can improve the health of your skin.

What is the preparation before the procedure?

An anaesthetic cream will be used before the procedure to create patient comfort.

When does the procedure take effect?

Results start to become visible one month after the procedure, but the synthesis of new collagen fibres continues for up to 6 months after the procedure.

Is the procedure painful?

Most patients feel no pain during the procedure. However, for your comfort, an anesthetic cream with lidocaine or ice may be applied before the procedure to limit pain.

How many sessions does it take?

The number of treatments required depends entirely on the specifics of each patient. Typically, several treatments are needed to completely remove sagging, excess skin or fine lines around the eyes. Results will be seen almost immediately, and with each additional treatment, wrinkles and lax skin will disappear and the appearance will be increasingly improved.

What side effects can blepharoplasty with CO₂ or radiofrequency laser have?

In general, the procedure is risk-free. However, possible post-procedure side effects include pronounced erythema, eyelid area oedema or hyperpigmentation.
