Juvederm SKINVIVE

Juvederm SKINVIVE is an innovative injectable treatment from the Allergan Juvederm range, designed to improve the appearance of skin for up to 9 months.

It is a hyaluronic acid gel that improves skin texture, reduces fine lines and restores moisture and elasticity to the skin, all in one treatment. It can be used to treat the face, neck, décolletage area and even the hands.

In SKINMED®, we use Juvederm SKINVIVE both as a filler to complement other products in the Juvederm range, but also as a treatment to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and restore skin hydration, even for younger patients who want a brighter skin appearance.

Juvederm SKINVIVE is a new, innovative product with natural and long-lasting effects obtained after a single session. It can be used on its own, or as a precursor to other injectable treatments in the Juvederm range, and helps protect the skin against the effects of free radicals.

Juvederm SKINVIVE works on several levels. The presence of the filler has a slight plumping effect, and during the weeks post-treatment, the skin will become more beautiful and radiant, with fine lines improved and pores minimized.

Juvederm SKINVIVE falls into the category of dermal fillers, although it has a more important effect in improving the appearance of the skin than in restoring lost volume.

Results are visible after 1-2 weeks, with patients benefiting from brighter, firmer skin with less visible fine lines and surface wrinkles.

The degree of discomfort is significantly reduced by the use of very fine needles and lidocaine, the anesthetic substance in Juvederm SKINVIVE. A local anesthetic cream is also applied before the procedure.

Juvederm SKINVIVE is an injectable treatment that improves the texture and moisturizes the skin, suitable for all skin types, for any patient who notices a decrease in skin quality, for people with photo-aging or women in perimenopause.

The treatment contains 12 mg/ml crosslinked hyaluronic acid and 0.3% lidocaine. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin and is a hydrophilic substance that helps to hydrate cells by absorbing water. Hyaluronic acid production in the integument starts to decline from the age of 27: the skin becomes dehydrated, loses its brightness, fine lines and superficial wrinkles appear.

Juvederm SKINVIVE is injected with a very fine needle from a new generation of medical devices, which guarantees comfort during the procedure and considerably reduces the risk of hematoma.

The revolutionary effect of this hyaluronic acid is also due to the lidocaine content found in the Juvederm SKINVIVE formula, which helps to ensure a high degree of comfort during injection, as it produces an instant anesthetization of the area.

The procedure is minimally invasive with a very short recovery period.

Juvederm SKINVIVE is injected into the deep dermis, the lower layer of the skin, and stimulates fibroblasts, the cells in the dermis that have the ability to produce collagen and elastin. This has the effect of improving skin elasticity and firmness. Hyaluronic acid also has the property of drawing water into the cells, improving tissue hydration, a process that takes place in the weeks after treatment.

Patients generally choose to have one treatment session and return annually to maintain results.

According to clinical studies, 91% of patients were satisfied with the results after a single treatment session, and 96% noticed a smoother, firmer appearance to their cheekbones, with these results still visible after 6 months.

In the case of very dehydrated skin, either due to photoageing or hormonal changes, the treatment can be repeated at shorter intervals.

Treatment is not recommended for people with known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine, pregnant or breastfeeding women and people with a history of bleeding disorders.

It is also avoided in case of an active infection or less than a month after a laser rejuvenation procedure.

Because of the multiple injections to the treated area, the skin may be red for 24-48 hours after the procedure.

In some cases, small bruising, ecchymosis, may occur at the injection site after 12-24 hours, especially in people using anticoagulant medication, anti-inflammatories, fish oil or turmeric supplements. However, these are small, disappear in 7-10 days and can easily be covered with make-up products.

Rarely, allergy to hyaluronic acid or anaesthetic cream may occur. There is also a minimal risk of infection from multiple punctures, which can be treated with antibiotics.
